Hi Nraged!
That is truly a great piece of advise! My experience playing 1v1, over the board, "drunk chess" at the bar, made me ponder about the advantages and disadvantages of Intoxicated Combat Flight Simulation (ICFS). Here's how I see it:
--> PROS:
- Flying style will definitely improve. Be careful, I said style, not technique.
- Flight maneuvers you never thought possible will happen. Unfortunately, you may not remember how to perform them later.
- Physical and emotional pain will magically disappear, leaving you fit for a few hours.
- Brave and courageous actions will be boldly performed against the opponent. These actions just may be foolish enough to get you shot down, but the first sentence holds true.
- Aggressiveness is a word you will keep the whole time you're in the air.
- Taxiing and taking off will not be as hard as landing. Then again, the probability for you to get to the landing stage is very narrow.
- Fear, panic and freezing will not take place, even when an enemy is on your six o'clock, for you will have nothing but contempt for him.
- Thoughtless, mad instinct will overcome time-consuming, thoughtful decisions. Should this be on the "pros" section?!
- Engine energy output will be at its peak at all times, for you will never believe that it just might blow up in your face. Overheating warnings and RPM exceedance will be quite frequent, but you will always tell yourself: "Bah, who cares?". Again, the first sentence holds true.
- You will be trying new tactics and maneuvers. Some of them just might work, who knows?
--> CONS:
- Other pilots may not share your euphoria, so mumbling on TeamSpeak is out of the question. You must avoid this at all costs!
- Formation flying is also out of the question for obvious reasons.
- Compromising on escorting friendly bombers is not a good idea, for you will be wanting to fight the enemy all by yourself.
- Spotting the enemy and keeping sight will become harder and harder, as vision becomes hazy and blurry.
- The grief of being shot down may turn into rage (you could become nraged, you know?). If no one else is in the same room with you, that rage could be poured out on a piece of equipment. Usually, it's the joystick...
- Speaking of which, subtle movements of the joystick may be almost impossible to achieve. Don't expect too much of your aiming and gunning technique.
- The chances of firing on a friendly increase dramatically!
NOTE: All these factors may change depending on the quantity and quality of ethanol ingested.
Tomorrow, if I'm alive, I'll be having a few beers with my friends. That means I'm on the right track! Just like your wise grandfathers...
Cheers!
