[TWB] THE WET BANDITS

To all who shall see these presents, greeting:

Know ye that, reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of:

Classypax (aka pax, aka paxfounder, aka paxfounder1, aka Snatchpounder, aka Captain Chiclet)

I do appoint this officer a:

Major in

The Wet Bandits

To rank as such from the 7th day of April two thousand fifteen.

This officer will therefore carefully and diligently discharge the duties of the office to which appointed by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging.

And I do strictly charge and require those officers and other personnel of lesser rank to render such obedience as is due an officer of this grade and position.  And this officer is to observe and follow orders and directions, from time to time, as may be given by CINC-TWB-HQ, or other superior officers acting in accordance with the laws, bylaws, vague but generally recognized "de facto standards", drunken fumblings, and other general shenanigans of The Wet Bandits.

Done at the Command Bunker of TWB-HQ, this 8th day of April in the year of our Lord 2015, and the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred thirty nine.

Given under my hand, this day,

Col. Pand "Pandsiveaggressive" Pandemonium, TWB-HQ, Commanding

You all know him, you all love him, please join us in celebrating Pax's promotion!

Pax is going to be heading up the newly reformed [TWB] War Thunder division.

Part of this effort is in creating a "farm team" of sorts for pilots who might have what it takes to fly (and withstand the voice coms) with us in IL-2.

To that end, Pax has been running a stellar tutorial and training series called "Learning Sim Sundays" where he invites any and all interested pilots to explore higher difficulty flying and all of the pain and rewards that come with it.

You can find out more, here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/317ne5/learning_sim_sundays/

While I am sure that we've all enjoyed many of Pax's fine productions (including the stellar intro video everyone see when they go to http://www.thewetbandits.org) in case you are not following his revelries and goings on, please unscrew yourself:

Congratulations, Pax!!!

(ps: Please try to stick around longer than our last Canadian.  Thanks!)

News and Announcements / New Hardware Deployment
April 09, 2015, 09:37:20 AM
Pand » Sun Mar 29, 2015 6:56 pm

From 80hd on the IL2 Forum: Due to the performance issues we've been experiencing/you've been reporting recently, we've moved on trying new hardware in an attempt to alleviate the problem. We're hoping to gain some benefit out of slightly faster processor core speed (3.5ghz to 4.0ghz) as well as (fingers crossed) gaining some benefit from the virtualization layer.

We're not entirely sure as to how this will all pan out, as the underlying problem is undoubtedly bound to the fact that the dserver process refuses to make use of available system resources beyond a single core.

More as it develops!

Thanks for your patience while we migrated off that disaster called vanilla forums, and less than secure phpBB.

New forums deployed and all links from the website updated. Manually migrated some-- not all of the posts. I made an attempt to put the original posters name at the top or bottom of the post for reference.

Non-Squadron members will receive an email with their new password on the new forums.

Hardware and Software / Radio Chatter - Cross Talk
April 09, 2015, 09:26:10 AM
Awesome Radio FX plugin for Teamspeak that is absolutely fantastic --- Aborted Man told me about it.

http://addons.teamspeak.com/directory/addon/miscellaneous-plugins/CrossTalk.html

Disable all the other parts of the plugin, except for Radio FX, and then check the 'home' checkbox.

Hardware and Software / Terrain.ini updates
April 09, 2015, 09:24:24 AM
VR_Stick did a test of three settings of Terrain.ini.  The setting is above each picture.  All comparisons are using SweetFX however I have included a non-SweetFX of the Original Terrain.ini as a control.  All are in Balanced Preset except the last to show the difference to the Ultra setting.  Resolution is 1920x1200.

3rd Setting in Ultra - (improved detail over 3rd setting in Balanced preset in city and forest directly under plane)

I have not done extensive testing of the 3rd setting, however in Balanced preset in QMB I seemed to have little to no hesitations where previously there were some.  Keeping my fingers crossed for mp.

So you just bought a Warthog.   It's by far the best stick ever; however, ensure you're ready to maintain it as it will become your pride and glory.

1.  Purchase a PTFE O-Ring from this guy.  Just email him and ask him if it's still available and where to send paypal payment.  I bought two and received within a week.

Jonah/Hempstead,

Thank you so much for providing this service, my 2nd ring from Thrustmaster is completely worn out.

I would like to purchase:

2 PTFE O-rings (the thicker one you mentioned on warthog world).  I understand they are $8 per ring totaling $16.  Please let me know how to make payment--- if you will accept PayPal, or need me to send a check.

My shipping information:

2.  Buy some Lube!   I lube my warthog roughly every quarter. I snagged a 4oz off ebay.
Synthetic Polyolefin (PAO) Lubricant / Grease | M-kote EM-30L | NLGI #1 | Dist. by PP&S

3.  Run the attached configuration tool for your stick/throttle where you have moved the Hall Effect Sensors.

Attached are my current stick configurations for IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad. Enjoy!

Note: this includes commands for the Stick, Throttle, and MFDs. If you don't have any of those you may have to clear those commands to make it work with your system.

Each Axis must be assigned manually in-game.
Left Throttle -> Engine 1 Throttle
Right Throttle -> Engine 2 Throttle
Slider -> Pilot Camera Zoom
Saitek Throttle Quadrant -> Assigned Appropriately for Mixture/Pitch/Water Radiator

Migrated to the Script Editor for additional customization!

The .tmc file is for the TARGET script editor to run:
