I had an absolute blast tonight guys ---- Turned on the Crosstalk FX Radio plugin, we all threw on our dress red/blue/green/golds, and rocked it out. The immersion was great, the dogfights were epic, and it was some of the most fun I have had recently over Stalingrad in a yak.

:salute Red2, Blue1, Blue2, and Green1, Green2, and Gold2. You know who you are!

I've been forwarding these to plex and playing on my Home Theater-- Rockin!

TheElf » Sat Apr 04, 2015 10:36 pm

What do you stream Plex with? I have a PS4 and it worked at first, and now it doesn't! no idea why...

Pand » Sun Apr 05, 2015 10:38 am

I have a virtual machine running Plex on Ubuntu (I previously ran Windows; however, transcoding is roughly 40x more efficient on Linux), which is the core for all media for the family. My Plex clients include multiple android tablets and phones, smart TVs, an old Roku, and a full computer running windows 7 with the plex client in my home theater setup. Don't have a playstation so never tried that as a client.

Most of the plex features are free, but looks like playstation client may require a plexpass: https://plex.tv/playstation

This is the lastest in a series of Cruise videos VFA-27 puts out. Watch in HD, pump up the volume, and enjoy! These are some of the best cruise videos I've seen and they always get the blood pumping.

Hey dudes...check out and provide feedback for the next mission objective featuring ferrying wounded soldiers out of the encroaching Russian's encirclement via He-111 medical transport flight!...Load 'em up!!!

...oh cool, you can't post YouTube videos.

dillon.biz » Tue Mar 31, 2015 8:38 am

Dude, nice.

This looks like it could be really cool to do as a big flight, with fighters circling overhead batting off Russians, bombing approaching tanks, etc.

Keep up the good work yo

The Frontline 1.61b Changelog

- Removed sands from winds in mission to alleviate vaginal discomfort (turbulence reduced to factor of 2)

The Frontline 1.60b Changelog

- Removed obscenely violent turbulence (factor of 6) (horrible, horrible idea)
- Added less violent turbulence (factor of 4)

Ewertsp » Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:23 pm

Hey Aborted, the wind is actually worse now, way worse. Really strange, check it out whenever you can. Tx!  :salute:

AbortedMan » Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:31 pm

The turbulence and the wind have been kicked up a notch over what it normally was, which was non-existent...which I don't like. There should be some interaction with a weather system in this game. This will effectively prevent a lot of unrealistic "sniper" shots that happen all too often in.

It's a new challenge, conquer it!

otavio » Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:41 pm

Dude, it's bad.

Ewertsp » Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:41 pm

hahaha we can't even strafe tanks hahaha you should try it.

If you were trying to tone down what we had yesterday, you did just the opposite.

Roo5ter » Thu Apr 02, 2015 7:21 pm

I personally don't get sick really but the insanity of my Stukas nose right now would definitely make some people turn this off.

Tanks are not going to be able to be destroyed by 37mm or rockets in the current conditions which limits gameplay options. If this was a series of missions and this was one of the weather conditions out of many I can see its use in a shorter mission to create a different or difficult experience.

The max reasonable m/s for turbulence is 1-2. Not sure how much wind factors into this but I know the turbulence setting matters far more than wind.

Roo5ter » Thu Apr 02, 2015 7:37 pm

After posting I felt a bit guilty here for just reiterating the problem everyone else did so I went ahead and made a short video clip to add some more objectivity to the claims here.

https://youtu.be/7pVr467KI6Y

Stuka is at 420l of fuel, armored plates, bomb load 500kg 4x70kg. Zero manual control input during the video just auto level, flaps up airbrake up.

Loop that video for 20 minutes and thats what flying a mission is like in these conditions. Not good man :(

oneeyeddog » Thu Apr 02, 2015 10:19 pm

The wind/turbulence is pretty wicked. Its very hard to strafe vehicles.

You never saw what I was toning down as I only added the severe turbulence after everyone was out of the server, so it's immediately apparent that I see a placebo effect here. The only thing you saw was a turbulence factor of 1, which equals 0 turbulence, which is what the mission has been at the entire time since months ago.

I am disappointed in the reaction towards natural adversity in what should be a challenging situation. I'll be changing it to a lower factor, but there will be turbulence in the atmosphere still

Ewertsp » Fri Apr 03, 2015 2:10 am

Oh, now i get you. We were at 1 or zero but I as read your changelog I understood we were at 6 and then gone to 4. Ok we know what 4 is like, so now we just gotta test, maybe 3 is the best setting or not. 4 is just too much, but it could be interesting with bad weather, heavy rain...

The Frontline 1.59b Changelog

- Changed mission name to "The Frontline"

- Fixed the living shit out of the AAA
- Complete AAA rewrite
- Fixed: AAA was only deactivating for enemy aircraft that left their activation zone on their own accord, not for enemy aircraft that were killed, disconnected, finished flight, or other various reasons that would render AAA unnecessary in the area. This would lead to instances of AAA not deactivating and using server resources...over enough time the server was possibly rendering over 600 ground units. <---Needs testing!
- Fixed: Shkolniy AAA not flipping to German upon XIV Panzerkorps area capture

- Fixed: XIV Panzerkorps 2nd attack wave not spawning due to various instances.

- Added obscenely violent wind and turbulence at all altitudes.
- Changed cloud formations (slightly less coverage)
- Increased wind speed to 4-8 m/s at various altitudes, direction: 090-110 degrees at various altitudes

- Further broke UI "start" bug to not allow anyone to spawn an aircraft. Ever.

- Changed: Russian airfield capture now only requires 1x Supply He-111 landing once XIV Panzerkorps have secured the area.

- Removed all AI flights.

- Various subtitle changes.

- Reverted "Mission End" timer to 2 minutes.

- Moved spectator camera away from artillery fire

March 21, 2015
- Broke everything

- Fixed everything (I think)

- Fixed 2nd tank attack wave not spawning

- Broke everything again
#36
March 20, 2015
- Added zones to objective airfields on the map

- Limited AI supply He-111 aircraft to only spawn once previous flight has been destroyed

- Tweaked Rynok tank battle

- Changed airfield destruction penalty to only allow one aircraft to spawn after an airfield gets attacked. Airfields will be out of commision for ~30 minutes unless resupplied
#37
March 19, 2015
- Lowered airfield ground asset durability to 500 (was 25000)
#38
March 19, 2015
- Rewrote XIV Panzerkorps 1st wave to tentatively fix lame (not moving) units within group
- First wave tank groups now implement spawn protection (invulnerable) for the first 15 minutes of round start or until they spot a threat. Please test and note any instances of tanks being invulnerable.

- Implemented new win condition for Russia: The destruction of 8 AI He-111 supply aircraft on any one flight path to a specific base will make it impossible for the remaining AI flights to capture the base, deeming the establishment of a German hold on the sector a failure. AI supply aircraft being destroyed are not counted collectively across separate flight paths/airfield destinations...example, 4 He-111s killed heading to Rynok will not count towards the necessary total of 8 if 4 other He-111s heading to Shkolniy were destroyed. 8 He-111s destroyed while heading to Rynok will count as a Russian win, same for 8 He-111s destroyed heading to Shkolniy, etc...

- Tweaked objective notifications

- Tweaked He-111 AI formation
#39
March 19, 2015
- Automated airfield/objective resupply/capture for Russian frontline airfields. AI He-111 supply flights will now spawn upon XIV Panzerkorps capturing the respective bases.

- Created "tank battle scene" for Shkolniy airfield capture (WIP)

- Fixed issue with too many homing beacons
#40
March 17, 2015.
- Implemented beacons for homing devices on aircaft (untested)

- Rearranged notification logic for He-111 airfield capture

- Patched the server to the latest IL2:BOS Version and reconnected to master server.

Confirmed Achtuba Beacon is working with the RPK10. Nicely done ABM.
