We started flying on their server this weekend and it was fun. We got some air kills, but no ground kills because not having SEAD is retarded for the mission they were testing.

If you're interested in trying this out, hook up with Rich or myself on TS and we'll go over the basics and what we have learned about Blue Flag so far.
While the server was restarting a lot of guys have clearly stated that this is what DCS is to them - Blue Flag mission.

The O'Club / Black Desert is out!

Did anyone buy it?

It looks very promising from the world PVP stand point.

I just installed BOS on my new PC and when I started fucking with the video settings, I couldnt find terrain.ini
The game works fine, no FPS drops or anything, but it still doesnt look as good as it did before.
I set it to Ultra and everything, but the colors are not as juicy as they used to be.
Also I switch between Ultra and High, there is no noticeable difference at all.

What else can I do make it look better?

DCS Training (Public) / SU25T Info
October 24, 2015, 10:32:18 AM
Lets start off with

http://lockon.co.uk/en/flaming_cliffs_2/training/Su-25T.php

and if you have the time and dedication, I would advise watching each and everyone of these videos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZT878Rylhw

After you're finished, you will be an ACE at SU25T on paper! After you spend some time on setting up your controls and actually flying it, you will become an ACE in game as well.

For your initial baby steps I would advise using SEAD set up and 104th server offers some great missions where having a SU25T equipped with SEAD is a great asset to the team.

Once you figure out the whole SEAD set up and which missles to use (Phantasmagoria Pod, Kh58 for long range and 25MPU for medium/short range), you will be able mix things up a bit and be prepared for any kind of situation, depending on the current stage of the mission.

My personal favorite
Phantasmagoria Pod, 29T, Vikhrs, 25MPU, 25ML, ECN Pod.  Same set up for each side.
Here are the benefits:
- Since 29Ts have longer range than 25MPU (please correct if I'm wrong), you can still target SAMs with them by using PhPod to target and quickly switching to 29Ts/Shkval.
- 25MPUs are there for SEAD as well
- Vikhrs, and we get 16 of them, are awesome at killing anything at shorter range.
- 25MLs are just laser guided rockets and I'm not a big fan of those, so I take them instead of bombs, in case I need to kill a building or something. There is nothing wrong with replacing them with bombs IMO.

This set up gives you a great mix of everything.

Now that we're done with pros, lets take a look at cons, even tho there arent that many:

- You are heavy, you're so fucking heavy that you need to use an entire airfield to take off, but once you're in the air, you dont feel the difference that much.
- By heavy, I mean over 1000lbs overweight.
Now, does it matter? Not really, because once you get to AO, you usually release 29Ts or 25MPUs very early in a fight so you'd be losing a good chunk of fat.
- Vikhrs affect your aerodynamics big time, your plane becomes all shaky at higher speeds, which means that you have to be super careful when diving and coming out of a dive. You dont have much room to work with speed wise.
- Fuel, becomes kind of a big deal if you dont get shot down. By the time you're finished with using all your Vikhrs, you will get Low Fuel warning because you'd have to make about 16 passes to release all of them and if you get good and start killing two targets on every pass, you will be saving some, but this will require you to pull up to much higher altitude after every pass and extend your climb by quite a bit and you will also be exposing yourself to a greater amount of risk of being shot down. Greed will get you killed, I can assure you :)
So on the top of 16 Vikhrs, you would need to make some more runs with your other ordinates so once again, by the time you're finished, your fuel tanks will be nearly empty. If you ever get to that, that means you know what you're doing and take "Bingo Fuel" warning as a compliment!

DCS Training (Public) / Su27 Info

Much info can be found here

http://lockon.co.uk/en/flaming_cliffs_2/training/Su-27.php

lots of good stuff, long read + videos, but worth every minute you spend on it.

For everything else, bribe Flame with lapdances and booze and may be he will let you pick his brain a little bit. Everthing that he has showed me so far works like a charm.

DCS Training (Public) / F15 Info

Lets start sharing some things we know about things we fly.  One plane at a time.
Corley has already A10C thread which should help everyone to get to know the plane, now its F15's turn!

Here is some info on F15/A10C RWR Symbols:

http://wiki.hoggit.us/view/RWR

I wasnt able to copy and paste the actual symbols so click on the link to see it in a great detail.

@Primus

Thank you so much for getting Operation Bacteria for us.
Last night we have completed one of the random missions and it was a lot of fun. We flew A10C, have finally figured out (kind of) the whole coordinates thing in the CDU, found the objective, defended the crash site and US Marines have been evacuated!
It took some time but we got it done! Now we're going to be able to complete more objectives going forward.

Few adjustments we'd like to request and I dont know if this can be done or not:

Change time of the day to may be 16:00 so we can get all the juicy graphics going.
Get rid of the wind since we're not really ready for the weather stuff yet.
Would there be a way to restart the mission after it ends without killing the host?
Is there a way to refresh the current mission coordinates? - For example: someone joins while the mission is live and wants to see what the coordinates of current objective are?
Check on the waypoints for SU25T - For Example:
The waypoint for SU25T was WP13. I set WP 13 on my NAV and it showed that its 169km away. I flew for about 50-60km and once I reached the mountains, the WP leading indicator started pointing else where. The distance to WP went back to 169 km again, Normally I would use the Kneeboard to confirm, but all those waypoints and descriptions are overlapping each other and making it impossible to read.

We also had an issue of not being able to spot enemy BTRs (according to the mission briefing), which were actually BMPs and the mission briefing also told us that they will have SA6, which did not exist. Good thing was that AdmiralReese joined, he hit "Enable Lables" in his game and found the targets right away. I honestly had no idea that it was enabled, which was a huge help because Flame and I have spent like 20 minuted flying around the mountains looking for the tank column with SAMs and stuff.

Other than that, the mission fucking rocks! Cant wait to play it again!

I joined the ACG or AGC server yesterday on K4 and got into the sickest dogfight I've ever had. Got 2 kills, RTB, and lived! Lasted about 15 minutes and I didnt even kill the engine.

Most fun I've ever had flying props. Found a furball just outside of Bullseye, started pouncing until I got sucked in, blew my entire cannon load a Pony, watched him go down after few follow up shots with MGs. Forced an overshoot on a second, more MG action and his plane died. Dont know what I hit but it didnt look good for him.
Either way, that was so much fun. Forcing overshoots is easy because P51 pilots are always hungry for energy at lower alts and all these guys were dancing below 2500m. All you gotta do is evade his pass and he'll fall directly in your 12. K4 is agile as fuck. I had no idea how agile it was, and its acceleration is totally insane compare to P51.
Getting used to rudder pedals will take some time because when flying props, they actually matter a lot more than when flying jets.

Hardware and Software / Whats your monitor set up?
October 10, 2015, 09:44:44 AM
I'm surrently using a 27" monitor, and still can not decide if I should go with 27" x 3 or just buy one which would be significantly bigger.
Is it worth buying like 43" TV, yay no nay?

DCS General Discussion (Public) / 1.5 fixed?
October 10, 2015, 09:42:41 AM
I only flew for about an hour last night after the update and it seemed to be pretty stable. We did pick up a lot of lag on TAW server as soon as we started ground pounding, but I think that its just they got a shitty server.
104th wasnt showing up for a while, but I connected via IP and it was fine.
Couple of others couldnt connect to it so who knows.

Anyone else with some more feedback?

DCS General Discussion (Public) / DCS sale Shopping list!
September 04, 2015, 09:32:27 AM
I cant wait to get home and start pushing buttons and buying all these cool toys.
So on my list:

Currently own
D9
KA50
SU27

Will buy:

Flaming Cliffs - may be, but buying stand alone F15 is probably a better choice since MIGs dont perform as well as other Russian fighters and I already have SU27. The only downside is not being able to buy SU35, which I'm not really interested in either since SU27 is an amazing plane all around.

A10C - for sure
K4 - Yes!
P51 - of course!
F15C - a must cuz ezmode

Mi-8 - not sure, its a big fat cow, KA50 seems to be more fun

@Pand

I dont know why I started this thread in the wrong part of the forums, oops, sorry.
Can you please move it to the O Club or something?

Thank you sir!

DCS General Discussion (Public) / DCS

Should we have a forums section dedicated to DCS?
The big graphics update is coming out on Sept 15th and it sounds like its going to rock!

Anyways, I'm excited, so as Heff and Von, hopefully others will give it a shot as well.

After flying with Hollywood for a bit on the La5, I think it started clicking for me.

I loved the plane's torque and hated the way flew. So I have finally set up all my controls specifically for it, except for the shatters, which is a next step. Gonna have to free up some more buttons on HOTAS, but other than that, I have spent a good hour just flying around and getting used to how everything was, how all the buttons were mapped out and such.

So as I was cruising at around 3500, Thzuper twooo :) and looking for shit to kill,  I got dove on from space by a 190 who had shitload of energy on me. Luckily I was in a level flight doing about 500kph so I had some speed to work with. Our fight lasted about 10 minutes and ended up at around 1000m. With a damaged tail I managed to burn his E while  forcing an overshoot, which he just refused to bite upon for a while, and finally took him down in a flat scissor.  Also that was one of my most solid shots when I killed someone while scissoring. In WT you normally hit nothing but air due to latency and shit.

For the first time flying I got to use every single thing which my plane had to offer, other than shatters. The Boost, which Hollywood has also tought me how to use and when,  full flaps - 70% and nose up, I was able to outhelicopter him :) and not let him pull a fast one on me.

Anyways, all of this was done while I was using my elevator trim to pull up because I had a damaged tail, so once again, thanks Holywood for tips and tricks. I never thought I'd say this, but flying Russian planes is a lot more fun due to MEC.

Hardware and Software / Shoutbox

@Pand

Is it possible to put up a shoutbox on our website and status updates just for fun?

I found this on WT forums yesterday so I figured I'd let everybody know.

http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/231443-battle-of-moscow-community-event-this-saturday/

They still have room on the German team I believe.

Since Pand mentioned that we're looking for ideas for the "Event Server", this may help us as well.
I personally would love to attend but at this point I'm not sure about what the wife has planned for this weekend considering that the kids are on vacation from school and this is my only day off this week.

The time for the event is on Sat @ 1pm EST.
